Thoughts on paintingThis painting was made on March 10th, 2002 in Harrisburg, PA. I wanted to paint a scene of the Susquehanna River along Harrisburg but noticed two large flags above the Sutliff Cheverolet facility while driving on Highway 83. The wind was strong that day and the flags seemed to have a life of their own. I parked in a parking lot across the highway and finished this painting in about an hour. This scene made me think of the great sacrifice that has been and still is being made for our freedom and that we should never take this for granted. I donated this painting to the WITF Gallery 33 auction to help raise money for Public Television/Radio Broadcasting. |
